I'm fairly new to blogging but I can't help but offer up my thoughts about something I'm seeing as I peruse other blogs.
On at least two different sites I've seen something along the lines of this:
"blah blah blah blah blah blah blah... ... and if you know me please be sure to let me know that you have read my blog. After all, this is my diary and it is only fair for you to let someone know when you've been reading their journal... ... blah blah blah blah blah..."
or,
"...blah blah blah blah... ... Please do not link to this blog. This is my personal diary and I consider it to be every bit as private and personal as I would a journal written on paper that I keep under my pillow... blah blah blah blah blah"
Ummm... hello? What kind of crack are you dumbasses smoking? OF COURSE IT ISN'T ANYTHING LIKE A PERSONAL JOURNAL WRITTEN ON PAPER THAT YOU KEEP UNDER YOUR PILLOW! It's a webpage that automagically gets linked to by blogger.com (assuming you do your thing here) and even if it isn't linked to automagically, the fact that it's on the web and is not password protected means that it's there for others to read.
Get a fucking life. I imagine you're very similar to those people who play Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games or who run around inside virtual universes like Active Worlds making a big point out of asking people not to enter your "private" homes because "after all, you wouldn't want someone coming into YOUR REAL HOUSE NOW WOULD YOU?"
Of course you want people to read your private thoughts and ideas. You wouldn't be blogging in the first place if you didn't.
I'm going to put a special links section in my sidebar just for you.
My first entry is a link over to [cynically] smiling. Kendall seems like an intelligent girl, and is obviously pretty, but is also very obviously a complete control freak - based on the disclaimers she's posted as an annotation to her blog.
Way to go, Kendall! You're the first one to make the list of "Control Bloggers" here on Somewhere Near Westlake!

Congratulations on making a complete snap judgement on my life after reading what amounts to nothing at all.
My disclaimer is there because of events from the past, comment drama, and issues with people from my non-blog life. Forgive me for sounding clichéd, but you don't know the first thing about me, so please fuck off.
Nowhere do I say that I do not want people reading my thoughts. Like you said--that's why I have a blog. But what I have issues with is when people attack me for what I say. All I'm saying is that I want people to argue, but to do so intelligently.
And yes, you are fairly new to blogging. But here's a tip: mocking other bloggers, especially those who you don't take the time to read up on, is a no-no. How about you go read through my 32 months of archives, including the comments, then come back and criticise me some more? You'd be a little more informed in your Control Blogging labels, then.

....What exactly is it that makes you think you're opinion is more important than hers? You know that things you criticise in others are those you see in yourself.
Weird. Dave continually criticizes my weight. I admit being 220 (give or take 30 lbs) is a bit much, but I agree that I think DAVE IS THE FATSO!!! I don't really care that you are muscular, trim as a marine and a champion canoeist (yes that is the correct spelling!), those are DETAILS my friend, DETAILS! Next time I eat a double cheeseburger for the 404th time, just remember YOU ARE FAT NOT ME because what you see in someone is what you say you are or think I am or whatever that guy just said....!

Here's a quick summary comment to all of Kendadll's friends who've been coming back to spread their Christmas Cheer:
1. My comments weren't based on her self-expression. She's a control-freak because of her addendum and disclaimer.
2. I could care less about her self-expression. I went through and read some of it. It seems like the basic stuff of your standard 18 or 19 year old girl living in what amounts to our 51st state. (No Offense Daily Babbler... I think you are a fine Canadian and I hope you know I was instrumental in your hiring... Please see my next post...)
3. Yes, I'm married. I also have 2 kids, 2 cats, 3 vehicles, 2 houses, 2.5 mortgages, renters, and a job. I'm almost certainly in the midst of a pre-midlife crisis, given the fact I recently purchased a motorcycle and am suddenly giving energy to riling up all you dumb-asseses.
Anyway, it's time to move on. I'm sure I'll find other control bloggers to add to the list but I'm done talking about Kendall. You all feel free to call me whatever you want. I won't delete your comments and I won't be adding any disclaimers asking you to respect my privacy.
